Canada has had Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for packaging in some provinces since 2005. All provinces are now moving to 100% full EPR with industry assuming full financial and operational responsibility for recycling. Michelle will talk about why it is important for industry to take control to drive change.

Joachim will share EXPRA’s golden rules for setting up a best practice EPR scheme and will reflect on how to mitigate cost of living impacts.

Seamus will talk about how to set up and manage a successful scheme. Ireland has recently introduced a Deposit Return Scheme for beverage containers and Seamus will share learnings from this process.

Suez Recycling is the project delivery manager for the UK’s Flex Collect project which is running pilot trials for collection of soft plastics at councils across the UK. Thomas will provide his insights into how technology is driving change and how they are factoring climate and carbon footprint into their business.
