Do you have an idea that could transform the way packaging is designed, recovered and recycled in New Zealand?
The Innovation Fund supports projects that help improve how packaging is designed, used, collected, recycled and reused in New Zealand.
We provide grants and funding for practical, innovative solutions to recovering and recycling packaging like glass, caps and lids, soft plastics and food and beverage cartons.
Applications are invited for initiatives that reduce packaging waste going to landfill, such as sustainable packaging materials and product design, through to recycling collection and infrastructure, community initiatives, consumer engagement and research.
Grant applications are considered quarterly in January, April, July and October. Smaller projects may be considered outside of these funding rounds where appropriate. Co-funding and multi-year projects may be considered on application.
For many years, our funding programmes have helped organisations, communities and innovators trial new approaches to reducing packaging waste and improving Resource Recovery outcomes in New Zealand.
These projects have ranged from local infrastructure and public engagement initiatives through to research and innovation projects, each contributing to a more sustainable packaging system.
The Innovation Fund builds on this legacy, supporting both practical solutions and bold new ideas that can drive meaningful change across New Zealand.
